Traditional Malay music and performing arts have origins and influences from India, China, Thailand and Indonesia.
Gambus

String instrument - 12 nylon strings

Seruling

Wind instrument - flute made of bamboo.

Commonly played in the gamelan ensemble.
Gendang

Percussion instrument - a 2-headed drum with high and low pitches.

The body is made of wood, and the skin of the drum made using goat and buffalo skin.
Saron

Percussion instrument - a mallet is used to hit the bronze bars on the resonating frame.

Performer sits on the floor to play the Saron.
Kompang

Percussion instrument - a single-sided handheld drum.

The frame of the drum is made of wood, and the drum skin is made using goat skin.
